Post-Surgical Lymphatic Treatments
What Are Lymphatic Treatments and Why Do I Need Them?
Post-surgical lymphatic treatments also know as Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) helps to move fluid by gently pumping it back into the lymph vessesls. Without lymphtaic tretaments, excess fluid can evolve into fibrosis (a permanent hardening of the tissue) or a seroma (pocket of serous fluid).
How Many Lymphatic Treatments Will I Need?
There are no set number of lymphatic treatments as everyone heals at different rates. However, it is suggested to get 1 lymphatic treatment per day for the first 7-10 days. After this, depending on how you're healing, you may need a lymphtaic treatment 2-3 times per week. Over time, you will notice that the need for treatments will diminish and arent needed as frequently.
Faja
What Is a Stage 1 Garment?
Used directly after surgery and provides minimal to moderate compression. The material is much softer/lighter which aids in swelling and healing of your skin from recent trauma. You will wear your stage 1 garemnt until you're ready to transition into a stage 2 garment. Ideally this is 5-7 days post-op.
What Is a Stage 2 Garment?
Provides firm compression. Helps to mold and shape your body. The material has minimal stretch making it more difficult to put on and take off. Your stage 2 garment should be worn long with board and foams for a minimum of 3 months. For best resusts, 6 months to a year is HIGHLY suggested.
My Garment is Becoming Too Lose. What Should I Do?
Adequate compression is key after healing from cosmetic procedures such as liposuction or tummy tuck. A garment that is too tight is just as bad as a garment that is loose. We have fajas of various sizes avaliable for purchase at our office in th Faja Suite.
